Loftia Battery

Battery facts checked November 4, 2026 · From the Early Access game files, Steam build 26416344

Your Loftia battery holds 5 energy charges, and every craft uses some of them: a dish costs 2, a new station 3 to 5. When it runs low, recharge it at the Solar Panel on your island. The panel charges fastest on sunny days and slowest at night in the rain.

How the Loftia battery works

For the rest of our Loftia guides, start at the Loftia guide hub.

  • Why it feels slow: a developer said during the demo that rain and night slow the Solar Panel down; the demo's first patch made rainy nights less slow.
  • Bigger battery: craft Battery Lv.2, which holds 10 charges, at your Project Station from your Battery, 10 Scrap Wire and 2 Mushroom Leather.
  • Even bigger: Battery Lv.3 and Lv.4 are Project Station upgrades whose recipes you unlock in the Hanging Gardens. Lv.3 holds 20 charges and Lv.4 holds 30.

What uses battery charges in Loftia

The game puts it simply: "The Battery you carry powers crafting stations around Loftia. Every craft uses a certain number of Battery charges." Here is what each kind of craft costs at each station's first level:

How many Battery charges each kind of craft uses at each station's first level, from the Early Access game files.
What you craftCharges
Anything at the Refining Station 1
Any dish at the Cooking Station 2
Hammer, Watering Can, Rain Collector 2
2x2 Garden Bed, Cooking Station, Personal Storage, Pruners, Battery Lv.2 3
Carpentry Station, Tailoring Station, Refining Station, Glider, Small Solar Panel, Share Box, Chest Key 5
Furniture and decorations at the Carpentry Station 1 to 3
Outfits at the Tailoring Station 1 to 20

Recipes at the stations' higher levels cost more: furniture 2 to 7 charges and outfits 3 to 20.

So a full basic battery covers two dishes, or one new station. Outfits cost the most.

The game's hints also mention electrical doors that need "a bit of power to open" and Beacons you power up with your battery, so keep a little charge when you head out.

Because every dish costs 2 charges, your battery limits how much you can cook and sell; which dishes earn the most is on our Loftia money making page.

How to charge your battery in Loftia

Use the Solar Panel on your island. The game's tip is direct: "If you don't have enough charges, you can use the Solar Panel on your island to recharge your Battery." The item description adds that the Battery is "Rechargeable in any energy station"; in the demo, the Solar Panel on your island is that station. When a developer was asked in the official Loftia Discord where to recharge, the answer was "At your solar panel!"

Build a second panel. You can craft a Small Solar Panel at the Project Station from 5 Metal Scraps, 5 Scrap Wire and 5 Glass Cullets; crafting it uses 5 charges. Players report that placing a second panel needs a permit upgrade first: Amani's Building Permits raise how many of each object you can place, as the game puts it, "Upgrade your Permits to increase item limits!"

Why your Loftia battery charges so slowly

The weather and the time of day. In the official Loftia Discord on October 20, 2026, a developer explained that the Solar Panel "should charge over time, depending on the conditions": at night or in rain it charges slower, with both together "REALLY slow", and on sunny days "it will charge much faster".

The demo's first patch helped. The same day, the developers' patch note said: "Solar panels now generate more energy in rain and at night, particularly when both are happening." So rain and night are still the slow times, just less slow than at the start of the demo. A later patch fixed "incorrect solar panel information on some home islands", so if your panel's readout looked wrong early in the demo, that was a bug.

What to do about it: cook and craft on sunny days, and spend rainy days and nights planting, gathering and questing while the panel catches up.

How to craft Battery Lv.2

Battery Lv.2 is "a battery capable of holding 10 energy charges", twice the basic one. You craft it at the Project Station from:

  • your Battery (the craft replaces it),
  • 10 Scrap Wire, picked up by hand from wire piles around Loftia City,
  • 2 Mushroom Leather.

The craft needs no unlock and uses 3 charges.

Mushroom Leather is the hard part. Each one is refined at the Refining Station from 5 Portobello Mushrooms, so you need 10 mushrooms. In the demo, Portobello Mushrooms come from glowing nodes during treasure hunts, and you gather them with Pruners. A developer said in the official Loftia Discord that treasure hunts happen every 30 minutes near the waterfall at the back of Loftia City. In the Hanging Gardens, the Early Access game files also list a Portobello Spot that drops them.

Pruners are also a Project Station craft: 10 Plastic Discards, 10 Screws and 2 Metal Plate, where each Metal Plate is 5 Metal Scraps refined at the Refining Station.

Every recipe here, with its energy cost, is in our Loftia recipes table.

Bigger batteries and more energy stations

Battery Lv.3 and Battery Lv.4 are the two bigger batteries. The first holds 20 charges and the second 30. You craft Lv.3 at a level 2 Project Station from your Battery Lv.2, 3 Copper Bar and 2 Lignin; the craft uses 10 charges. Lv.4 takes a level 3 Project Station, your Battery Lv.3, 10 Power Cable and 5 Vines, and uses 15 charges. Both recipes must be unlocked: the Early Access game files list Battery Lv.3 as the reward for the Elemental Earth set at the Overgrowth Research Station in the Hanging Gardens, and Battery Lv.4 for its Sightless Seekers set. Battery Lv.3 also needs a level 2 Project Station, whose upgrade recipe comes from the first set at the Central Lake Research Station; our list of research station rewards shows every set. A developer added during the demo that there are "higher-tier solar panels and other energy stations you can unlock a little bit further into the game, past the demo cutoff."

The developers' official list of what Early Access adds covers those districts. The higher-tier energy stations are not covered here: their data table could not be read from the Early Access game files, so what they produce is not known to us. Upgrades for the hammer and other tools are on our Loftia hammer page.

Version notes and limits

Two points are open: the higher-tier energy stations, whose data table could not be read from the Early Access game files, and whether any outfit's charge cost works differently from the table above. The battery recipes and charge costs on this page were read from Early Access build 26416344 on November 4, 2026.
