Loftia Quests

Quest steps checked November 4, 2026 · From the Early Access game files, Steam build 26416344

In the Early Access game files, the Loftia story runs through three districts: the Loftia City quests from A Fresh Start to Certified Flying Loftian, the same as in the demo, then the Hanging Gardens from A Call From the Gardens, the Gridfall from Everything Is Connected, and a last set of underground quests that ends with Too Many Spores Spoil the Soup. Most players who get stuck in Loftia City hit one of these five spots:

Loftia quests: the five places players get stuck

After Loftia City, the usual questions are whether you need the fishing quest (yes, Fish Are Friends is part of the Hanging Gardens story), where the Wrench comes from (Keeping the Lights On, in the Gridfall) and what the Locator needs (5 Magnets, 2 Carbon Fiber and 2 Glass).

  • Missing carrot seeds in The First Sprout: they are in your Tool Wheel. Hold R (do not tap it) to open the wheel and equip the seeds.
  • Your Daily Do-Good and the Project Bot: in the Early Access game files, the quest's first step goes to the Project Bot of the Build the Dome World Project; during the demo it was the bot at Pebble's Birthday Party in the Dome. Talk to it, donate to the World Project, then follow Amani's steps.
  • City Tour stopped after a disconnect: talk to Pebble again to resume the tour.
  • Ready for the Rumble not counting your skills: skills you levelled before the quest started do not count, so level three more.
  • Stuck in the ground or in a corner: open the menu and choose Teleport To Start.

What each Loftia story quest asks for

A Fresh Start (Pebble). Meet Milo at his workshop, then collect 5 Screws and 5 Plastic Discards. Catch up with Milo, then collect 5 Clay and 5 Scrap Wire. Tell Milo the news and check in with Pebble. Take the hot air balloon to the neighborhood island and meet Pebble there. Place a Project Station anywhere on your island and a bed inside your house, craft a Hammer, then clean up the island by foraging 10 times and show Pebble.

Meet Hazel. Check in with Hazel to learn about farming.

The First Sprout (Hazel). The farming quest, and the one with the most steps:

  1. Place the Garden Bed on your island and plant 4 Lettuce Seeds.
  2. Craft a Watering Can, water the lettuce and harvest 4 Lettuce.
  3. Tell Hazel, then deliver 4 crops in the Shipping Bin and report back.
  4. Plant 4 Carrot Seeds. They go into your Tool Wheel, not your bag: hold R to equip them.
  5. Build a Cooking Station, prepare 2 Carrot Soup and deliver both in the Shipping Bin.
  6. Meet Amani and improve your Building Permit for Garden Beds.
  7. Craft and place a second Garden Bed, then plant 4 Lettuce Seeds and 4 Carrot Seeds.
  8. Tell Amani. From here you can buy seeds at Hazel's Seed Shop.

Permission to Glide (Cliff). Talk to Milo and collect 5 each of Metal Scraps, Scrap Wood, Plant Fiber and Tires. Craft a Refining Station, place it on your island, and process one each of Metal Plate, Plank, Straw and Rubber. Tell Milo it's done.

City Tour (Pebble). Talk to Pebble for a tour of Loftia City. If the tour was interrupted or you disconnected, talk to Pebble again to pick it up.

Meet Ryder. Meet Ryder at the Adventure Dock.

Adventure Awaits! (Ryder). Find 3 Scrambled Coordinates by salvaging resources in the city, show them to Ryder, play an adventure through to the end and report back with the island data. The reward is 15 Scrambled Coordinates and the Flare emote. Our guide to getting Scrambled Coordinates covers where they drop.

Meet Cliff by the Dome. Meet Cliff by the Dome.

Certified Flying Loftian (Cliff). Craft a Glider and show Cliff. He then asks you to meet him at the Airtram Station, which is where the demo's story stops.

Loftia side quests and how to unlock them

Loftia City has 18 side quests, the same in the demo and in Early Access; the Hanging Gardens and Gridfall side quests are in their district sections below. Most open as you move through the story; several come in short chains from the same character.

The three Pebblethon quests each need another player nearby.

Loftia Hanging Gardens quests in order

The Hanging Gardens open when you finish Certified Flying Loftian and meet Cliff at the Airtram Station. The story here has three quests, and the third splits into three short quests you can do in any order. What else the district holds, place by place, is on our Loftia Hanging Gardens guide.

Top-down Loftia map of the Hanging Gardens: green floating islands among clouds around a central lake, with a large forest island to the north, shown without labels

A Call From the Gardens (Cliff). Enter the Airtram to go to the Hanging Gardens and meet Cliff there. Meet Herb, guardian of the Gardens, head up to the lookout, then find Arlo at the Community Farms and report back to Herb. Finish by meeting Kassim. The reward is 2 Chest Keys and bigger Seed, Fashion and Carpentry shops. The Project Station's upgrade panel calls this quest "Welcome to the Gardens".

Fish Are Friends (Kassim). Craft the Collector Rod (crafting Pruners first is optional), show it to Kassim, catch 3 fish and report back. This is part of the main story, so you can't skip it; our guide to starting fishing has the rod recipe and how to fish.

Field Research (Kassim). Complete a set at any research station and report back. Kassim then sends you to three residents for their field notes, each with a quest of its own, and you report back once all three are done. Our guide to the first research set and Project Station Lv.2 covers the set most players do first.

  • Notes From the Fauna (Joanna). Look around for 5 clues to a missing dog, make sure the dog is well-fed and report back. This is how you get your first pet, and the reward includes the Basic Habitat recipe.
  • Notes From the Air (Hazel). Collect 3 Clovers and show them to Hazel, craft 4 Flower Pots, plant the flowers in them and talk to Hazel again. The reward includes three Flower Pot recipes.
  • Notes From the Land (Kun). Get the Hammer Lv.2 recipe and craft the hammer, show it to Kun, then find a Banana, a Coconut and Cacao and report back.

Loftia Gridfall quests in order

The Gridfall story starts as soon as Field Research is done and runs through eight quests with Mita, Milo and Atlas, ending back in Loftia City. Its places, the Urbex doors and the way into the Concrete Jungle are on our Loftia Gridfall guide.

Top-down Loftia map of the Gridfall: islands of dense grey city blocks and ruins floating among clouds, shown without labels

Everything Is Connected (Kassim). Head up to the lookout, then get the Bounce Shoes recipe and craft the shoes. Pick up a food crate with Herb, get Cliff's authorization to travel and take the Airtram to the Gridfall. Get directions from Cliff and take the food crate to Mita. The reward is 5 Chest Keys and bigger Seed, Fashion and Carpentry shops.

Keeping the Lights On (Mita). Check on Milo, then clear the trash piles with your Hammer to find his spare Wrench and repair 3 broken lampposts. Back at Milo's Gridfall workshop, upgrade your Project Station to Lv.3 (5 Electronic Scraps, 2 Rusted Metal and 10 Scrap Wire) and craft 2 Repair Kits (3 Metal Scraps and 3 Screws each), then repair 2 broken Hydroponic Machines and catch up with Milo. The reward is 3 Repair Kits and the Salvaged Armchair recipe. This is the only place to get the Wrench; our guide to the Wrench explains why adventures need it.

The Case of the Missing Curator (Milo). Repair Mita's workstation and show her. Go to the museum to find Atlas, ask the Attendant, the Archivist, the Conservator, the Historian and the Tourist whether they have seen Atlas, give Mita the news and search for Atlas in the underground.

Field Notes and Loose Bolts (Atlas). Complete 2 Museum research sets and report to Atlas.

Beneath the Surface (Atlas). Ask Mita for an Urbex key, repair 3 pillars in the underground and meet Mita at her workshop. The reward includes 3 Power Cables. The pillars are the part players miss: they found them behind the underground's Urbex doors, which the developers say need an Urbex key card to open, so use Mita's key on those doors rather than searching the open tunnels. The three kinds of Urbex room are explained in our guide to the Gridfall's Urbex doors.

The Art of Letting Go (Mita). Ask Kassim for help, catch a Rainbow Trout in the Hanging Gardens, collect 3 Bioluminescent Ivy and deliver both to Kassim. Craft the Locator from 5 Magnets, 2 Carbon Fiber and 2 Glass, show it to Mita, then find a Battered Rubber Duck and a Used Rubber Duck and take them to her. The reward includes 3 Carbon Fiber. Plan ahead for the Carbon Fiber: until you own a Locator, every Carbon Fiber source (the Lockboxes in the Concrete Jungle and the Urbex rooms, and the Pile of Cars group spot) needs Hammer Lv.3, and no story quest gives it. Its recipe is the reward for the Advanced Mechanics set at the Museum Research Station; you craft it at a level 3 Project Station from your Hammer Lv.2, 5 Electronic Scraps, 3 Rust Resistant Alloy and 1 Lignin, as our hammer upgrade guide explains. Our guide to hard-to-find materials covers where Magnets, Carbon Fiber and Glass come from.

A Second Life (Mita). Ask Milo about his new invention, craft a Recycler (3 Glass, 2 Power Cables and 2 Circuit Boards) and recycle artifacts into 6 Colorful Tiles, then update Milo.

Mending What's Broken (Mita). Meet Mita next to the crack in Loftia City. The reward is the Propeller recipe, 5 Chest Keys and a Golden Chest Key.

A short hand-off, Meet Atlas at the Museum, sits between The Case of the Missing Curator and Field Notes and Loose Bolts.

Loftia quests after the Gridfall

After Mending What's Broken, the story turns to Loftia's underground. These quests take you back through all three districts and into a cave in Loftia City.

Following The Crumbs (Pebble). Use the Locator near the Dome to follow a mysterious trail, then talk to the suspicious person at the end of it. The trail ends in The Hills of Loftia City; players who searched only around the Dome found nothing, so follow it out of the plaza.

The Shroom Next Door (Dr. Marie). Use the Locator to find a secret mushroom in Loftia City, tell Dr. Marie, then find one more in the Hanging Gardens and one in the Gridfall. Show her the mushrooms, enter the trapdoor and talk to her inside the cave.

Too Many Spores Spoil the Soup (Dr. Marie). Assemble the Seismic Sonar in the cave and talk to Kassim. Then try out five residents' solutions, each a short quest of its own, and report to Pebble. The reward is 5 Chest Keys and 3 Golden Chest Keys, and players report it also gives a rainbow walking trail.

Fur-ther Investigation (Joanna) is the side quest of this part: it opens after Mending What's Broken and asks you to find 30 clues to a capybara across the districts and activities. Our pets guide covers how its pieces drop.

Loftia Daily Do-Good: how to finish it

Your Daily Do-Good comes from Amani once you have finished both Ready for the Rumble and Adventure Awaits!. Its steps:

  1. Talk to a Project Bot.
  2. Donate to a World Project.
  3. Check in with Amani.
  4. Redeem an item from the Community Rewards.
  5. Report to Amani.

The reward is the There You Go emote and 10 Sols.

Where the Project Bot is. During the demo, a developer pointed players to the Project Bot at Pebble's Birthday Party in the Dome. Talking to it also gives you a button to the project's reward track. In the Early Access game files, the quest is offered while the Build the Dome or Build Turbine World Project is under way, and its first step goes to the Build the Dome Project Bot. Which project is running is decided on the game's servers, so look for the Project Bot at the current project.

If the Project Bot step does not complete. A developer confirmed on October 21, 2026 that turning the quest in to the bot was bugged, and the second demo patch fixed the bot's quest completion. The first patch had already fixed the Daily Do-Good getting stuck once Pebble's Birthday Party was complete.

The Community Rewards step uses Sols, which you earn by contributing to World Projects; our Community Rewards section explains them.

Stuck on a Loftia quest? Fixes that work

Carrot seeds missing (The First Sprout). Seeds go into your Tool Wheel. Hold R, not tap, to open it, then pick the seeds; the game's own tip says to hold the key "to open the Tool Wheel and equip your seeds". The developers' stuck guide in the official Discord gives the same fix. By default you can also press the number keys 1 to 7 to switch tools, and choosing the hand empties your hands.

City Tour stopped. If the tour was interrupted or you disconnected, talk to Pebble to resume it. The second demo patch added this.

Ready for the Rumble not counting. The developers' known-issues list says the quest does not detect skills you levelled before it started, so you need to level three more.

Repeated dialogue or a quest that will not move after reconnecting. The second demo patch fixed saved quest steps that conflicted after reconnecting, mostly with Pebble. During the demo, the developers also rolled back quest progress by hand for a few players whose quests were duplicated or stuck. If that happens to you, email [email protected] with your character name.

Stuck in the ground or in a corner. Open the menu and choose Teleport To Start. A patch during the demo also tried to fix players getting stuck in the ground when returning to Loftia City from an adventure.

A placed item will not respond. A developer suggested putting it back into your inventory in decorate mode and placing it again.

Cannot find Milo's workshop. A developer said it is in the bottom left of the Loftia City map, near where you did your first quests.

Adventure with friends. A developer's advice during the demo was to let one person start the adventure and have everyone else wait for the pop-up; our Loftia adventures guide covers groups and solo play.

Not sure who to talk to. Follow the quest marker; it points to the character the next step needs.

Do I need the fishing quest? Yes. Fish Are Friends is the second Hanging Gardens story quest, and Field Research, your first pet and the Gridfall all come after it.

Cannot find "Welcome to the Gardens". That is how the Project Station's upgrade panel names A Call From the Gardens, the first Hanging Gardens quest; Cliff gives it after Certified Flying Loftian.

Project Station Lv.3 for Keeping the Lights On. The quest asks you to upgrade the Project Station to Lv.3 partway through, after you find the Wrench, with 5 Electronic Scraps, 2 Rusted Metal and 10 Scrap Wire. The station's panel says the quest unlocks the upgrade; as far as the quest steps show, the recipe arrives during the quest.

No Wrench. The only Wrench is in the trash piles of Keeping the Lights On: break them with your Hammer.

The Locator needs Carbon Fiber, and Carbon Fiber needs Hammer Lv.3. The Locator for The Art of Letting Go takes 5 Magnets, 2 Carbon Fiber and 2 Glass. Before you own a Locator, Carbon Fiber only comes from spots that need Hammer Lv.3, whose recipe is the Advanced Mechanics set at the Museum Research Station. No story quest hands you that hammer, so do the set while you are at the Museum for Field Notes and Loose Bolts.

Cannot find the pillars in Beneath the Surface. Players found them behind the underground's Urbex doors; the Urbex key from Mita opens them.

Nothing near the Dome in Following The Crumbs. The trail starts near the Dome and ends in The Hills; keep following it.

No Hydrofarm recipe after Keeping the Lights On. The Hydrofarm comes later, in Never Too Mush after the Gridfall story.

Where the Loftia story ends in Early Access

The last story quest in the Early Access files is Too Many Spores Spoil the Soup, which ends when you report to Pebble after trying all five solutions. Players who finished it in the first day of Early Access report that it is the final story quest for now. The developers plan more islands and questlines during Early Access.

The demo's story stopped after Certified Flying Loftian, at the Airtram Station. The developers said demo quest progress carries over to Early Access for players who linked a Loftia account, so you pick up the story from there.

Version notes and limits

Two points are open. Which World Project is running when you do the Daily Do-Good is decided on the game's servers. And the files list each quest's final reward but not the items handed out between steps, so recipes you craft mid-quest (the Project Station Lv.3 upgrade, the Locator, the Recycler, the Hydrofarm) are described by the step that needs them. Outfit and emote rewards are left out because their names are not readable in the files. Every step on this page was checked against Early Access build 26416344 on November 4, 2026; a later change to a step is updated with the build it was checked against.
