Loftia Materials

Material facts checked November 4, 2026 · From the Early Access game files, Steam build 26416344

Loftia materials come from gathering spots in three districts, and your tools decide which spots you can open.

Where to find Loftia materials

The four that players get stuck on most:

  • Copper Scraps: break Rusty Tools spots in the Hanging Gardens' Village with your basic Hammer. You do not need Hammer Lv.2 for copper.
  • Tires: break Piles of Tires at Loftia City's Solar Farm with the Hammer.
  • Vines: cut Overgrown Vines in the Gridfall's Historical Quarter with Pruners.
  • Resin: break Pine Trees in the Hanging Gardens' Overgrowth with Hammer Lv.2.

Which tool each Loftia gathering spot needs

Every gathering spot asks for one of these:

  • By hand: grass, clay, bottles, buckets of screws, wire piles, berry bushes, algae, rope, small plants and sand.
  • Hammer: crates, washing machines, tires, microwaves, rattan baskets and rusty tools.
  • Hammer Lv.2: abandoned cars, Mineral Nodes, Pine Trees, ovens, old computers, drill machines and old servers.
  • Hammer Lv.3: Lockbox Hammers and the Pile of Cars.
  • Pruners: rattan trees, flax, cumin, mushrooms and Overgrown Vines.
  • Pruners Lv.2: bamboo, cinnamon, Bioluminescent Ivy, clothes piles and cardboard waste.
  • Pruners Lv.3: Lockbox Pruners and the Pile of Cables.
  • Locator: artifact spots in the Gridfall.
  • Repair: leaking pipes, lamp posts and hydroponic machines in the Gridfall. The game's tip: "Some repairs might require other items like Repair Kits. These items must be in your inventory".

Hammer Lv.2 and Pruners Lv.2 come from the Central Lake Research Station, and their level 3 versions from the Museum Research Station. Our Loftia hammer upgrade guide has the Hammer Lv.2 recipe, and our research station recipe list shows where every other tool upgrade comes from.

Hard-to-find Loftia materials

Copper Scraps

You do not need Hammer Lv.2 for Copper Scraps. Rusty Tools spots in the Hanging Gardens' Village give them to the basic Hammer, and come back after about 3 minutes. Mineral Nodes also give Copper Scraps, with Bauxite Ore and Salt, but they need Hammer Lv.2. You also find Copper Scraps in Hanging Gardens Crate Spots and at the ore fishing spots in the caves; our guide to rare fish and the caves covers those. Gather plenty: the Hammer Lv.2 recipe alone takes 10.

Tires and Glass Cullets

Tires come from Piles of Tires at Loftia City's Solar Farm (Hammer) and from Loftia City Crate Spots. Glass Cullets come from Old Microwaves in the Scrap Quarter (Hammer), the abandoned cars and the Gridfall's ovens (both Hammer Lv.2).

Vines

Vines grow on Overgrown Vines in the Gridfall's Historical Quarter; cut them with the basic Pruners. Gridfall Crate Spots sometimes add them, and the Pile of Cables gives them too. The Museum Research Station's Nurturing Nature set needs one.

Resin, Cinnamon and Bioluminescent Ivy

All three are in the Overgrowth and all three need an upgraded tool: Resin comes from Pine Trees with Hammer Lv.2, and Cinnamon and Bioluminescent Ivy need Pruners Lv.2. If a spot won't open, your tool is one level short.

Rattan

Rattan grows on Rattan Trees in the Hanging Gardens' Village; cut them with the Pruners. You need 5 for the Collector Rod and 10 for Hammer Lv.2.

Loftia Scrap Wire

Scrap Wire is easiest by hand from Wire Piles at Loftia City's Solar Farm. Old Microwaves, the abandoned cars, the Gridfall's ovens and the Pile of Cables give it too.

Loftia Carbon Fiber and Power Cable

Both come from Lockboxes in the Gridfall's Concrete Jungle, which need level 3 tools: Lockbox Hammer (Hammer Lv.3) for Carbon Fiber and Lockbox Pruner (Pruners Lv.3) for Power Cable. Lockboxes come back after about 20 minutes. The Pile of Cars gives Carbon Fiber, the Pile of Cables gives Power Cable, and Gridfall artifact spots give both.

Crate Spots and group spots

Crate Spots are in every district. They need no tool, start a short minigame and come back after about 20 minutes. Each gives materials from its own district, and some openings give a bigger haul with extra materials:

  • Loftia City crates: Plastic Discards, Screws and Tires; a bigger haul adds Scrap Wood, Metal Scraps, Scrap Wire and Glass Cullets.
  • Hanging Gardens crates: Jute, Flax and Copper Scraps; a bigger haul adds Salt, Cinnamon and the three mushrooms, so a crate can give you Cinnamon before you have Pruners Lv.2.
  • Gridfall crates: Sand, Cardboard and Electronic Scraps; a bigger haul adds Vines, Gears, Magnets and Rusted Metal.

Group spots are big shared piles: the Pile of Cars (Hammer Lv.3) and the Pile of Cables (Pruners Lv.3). Starting one costs 1 battery charge, it stays open for about a minute, and the more players gather at it, the better the reward tier: one player gets the basic tier, three the good tier and five the best.

Any gathering can also drop extra items: Scrambled Coordinates for the treasure hunt, outfit pieces and, while a pet rescue quest is active, pet pieces. Our guide to getting Scrambled Coordinates explains the treasure hunt.

Refined and shop materials

Loftia Sugar and other cooking ingredients

You can't gather Sugar. Kun's Recipe Shop sells Butter, Milk, Egg, Cooking Oil and Sugar for 5 Dew each, once you finish the quest The First Sprout.

Loftia Lignin

Lignin is a refined material: the Refining Station turns 5 Bioluminescent Ivy into Lignin at level 2, so you need Pruners Lv.2 for the ivy first.

Every other refined material, from Planks to Copper Bars, is made at the Refining Station from the gathered materials above. Our Loftia recipes table lists each one's ingredients and time.

Version notes and limits

Three points are open. The game files list what each spot can drop but not how many you get per gather, so this page gives no amounts. The extra drops inside the Gridfall's Urbex rooms are not in the files we read. And the files do not say how many Repair Kits each repair uses. We will reread the gathering spots when the next Early Access build changes them.
